Website designer wins DWA Excellence Award
Don't Waste Arizona, Inc. awarded SAM its Environmental Achievement Award for her design for www.chemicalspill.org.
In its most ambitious undertaking, DWA pressured the Environmental Protection Agency to fund a website that provides emergency response and planning information for all stakeholders, especially the public. The www.chemicalspill.org site is a comprehensive, user-friendly gateway to enormous amounts of emergency planning information for firefighters, police, workers, facility owners, and more. Millions of people will be a little safer due to the accessibility of this information.
But the challenge was designing it to be user-friendly, inviting, and interesting. SAM rose to the challenge. When the website was provided to EPA, the agency was amazed and stunned, finding the site to be far more comprehensive and entertaining than the agency had even thought possible. The graphics, the special effects, and the layout were amazing. The www.chemicalspill.org site can now be accessed through the EPA's website. The site also comes up immediately in search engines when chemical spill information is queried, and can even be accessed through the Environmental Protection Agency website.
SAM also maintains and designs the DWA home site, where her innovative design ideas have been very appreciated for years now.
